ADMINISTRATIVE
STAINES
My
first encounter with Staines was in 2007, when my brother was
transferred to work in Shanghai Restaurant – a branch out from its
Barking's restaurant.
He
worked there for almost ten years – whereby I continued to stay in
Staines in 2011/2012 and 2015, when I was in England.
To
me, Staines is a 'convenient' place as it was situated in the centre
of a mini commercial hub – where there is a central bus station to
cater for nearby places such as Windsor, Twickenham, Woking and
Notcutt Garden, Kingston and Reading.
GARDENS AND PARKS |
Staines-upon-thames
is a town on the River Thames in Surrey, England. Historically part
of Middlesex, it was known to the Romans as Pontes, then as Staines
and subsequently Staines.
It
is also a residential community of London – marks a crossing of the
Thames used since Roman Times by major road from London to the
southwest of Britain.
Staines
is a suburban town on the River Thames in the borough of Spelthorne
in Surrey, England.
PEACEFUL RIVER THAMES UPON STAINES |
Parts
of the large Staines post town are whole villages namely Laleham,
Stanwell and Wraysbury. The post town includes, due to the long
association of Staines Bridge with a medieval causeway on the
opposite bank of the river, half part of a neigbouring town called
Edgam which contains a significant business area within the county,
and some of the town's oldest listed building.
TOWN HALL |
Staines
has a large number of parks, leisure centres, a football club which
has reached Conference level, multinational research/technology
company offices. The centre of Heathrow Airport is only 5km to the
north-east and Staines.
ROYAL HOLLOWAY COLLEGE |
Attractions
include the River Thames, Staines Bridge, Royal Holloway College and
Townhall, Hampton Court Palace, Southhall Market, Weekend Market
(Staines town). Magistrate Court, Library, Churches and shopping.
