KINGSTON

KINGSTON

Kingston is one of my favorite place for shopping, and I have been some five times over the past ten years.

I love the unique ancient market as well as the Queen Anne statue – located at the square. A walk around Kingston is worthwhile – to see the historic All Saints Church, monuments & statue of all kinds and old buildings.

KINGSTON SQUARE - BEHIND IS THE ST ANNE STATUE

Kingston Upon Thames, frequently known as Kingston – is in the southwest London, England.

It is the administrative centre of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, and identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan.

Kingston is notable as the ancient market town in which Saxon Kings were crowned. Kingston was pat of a large ancient parish in the county of Surrey and the town was an ancient borough, reformed in 1835.

ANCIENT MARKET

Since 1965, Kingston has been a part of Greater London. It has been the location of Surrey County Hall from 1893, extra-territorially in terms of local government administrative.

Attractions in Kingston are - Riverside Walk, Ancient Market, All Saints Church, BentallmShopping Centre, Out-of-Order Monuments, Gilded Statue of Queen Anne, Kingston Bridge, Canbury Gardens & Claremont Gardens, Museum & Heritage, Guildhall and Coronation Clock Tower.

ALL SAINTS CHURCH

I only get to visit All Saints Church, Ancient Market, Out of Order Monument, Bentall Centre and Guildhall.

All Saints Parish Church is a site for coronation of Kings of England. A Saxon building was replaced by a Norman church in 1130. The church was remodeled by JL Pearson in 19th century. The tower is 300 years old has formed the vista for the Kingston Avenue of trees at Hampton Coourt, was originally topped by a wooden spine but was rebuilt in present from 1708. In honour men of town who gave lives in Great War 1914-1919 and 1939 - 1945.

Out of Order Monument – showcase a number of telephone boxes – falling in an artistic way – a good place to take photographs in Kingston.

OUT OF ORDER TELEPHONE BOOTHS MONUMENT

All Saints Church is the largest and oldest church in Kingston, near market place.

The historic Ancient Market of Kingston Upon Thames has a market every day (except Sunday) from 9am – 5pm, depending on the weather, held at town square. There is a very rare good selection of stalls selling meat, fish, vegetables, flowers at knock-down prices.

WRITER POSING IN THE INTERIOR OF ALL SAINTS CHURCH

Statue of Queen Anne are rare – attached to a building erected in 1834-40, held at Old Market. The gilded statue of Queen Anne costs 47 pound back in 1706.
