KINTA VALLEY GEOPARK COMMUNITY BT GAJAH

 

TANJUNG TUALANG: The pre-launching of the Kinta Geopark Valley Community Batu Gajah would increase the awareness of the importance of promotion, conservation and development of geopark in Perak State.

The event was jointly organized by Persatuan Wanita Penjana Economi (WPE), Perbadanan Taman Negeri Perak, MB INC and TT5

The event was launched by Perak State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi held at TT5, here.

Also present was Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa.

 


 

Nolee said the programme aimed to showcase community-based tourism which would assist in improving the economy status of the people living in Batu Gajah, via providing jobs to locals in terms of souvenir traders and eatery places.

“We are also opening up one new tourism segment called the GeoTourism which covers Ipoh, Batu Gajah and Kampar highlighting on heritage, uniqueness and diversity of the areas.

“This segment will include places like Jeram River, Hot Spring, Limestone Hills, Food Product, SPA & Wellness, Medical Tourism, Investment, Education, Research and Property.

“One of its industrial heritage is the TT5 Dredge which reminds us of the tin mining activities found here in Batu Gajah vicinity.

 


 

“However, we will be implementing a new tourism segment called STEM Programme focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics whereby Science students can sign up for a 2D1N workshop to visit the Kinta Valley Geopark Gallery and MB INC office and participate in stem activity to know more about scientific, innovation and creativity subjects,” she said.

She added that the pre-launching programme in Geopark Gopeng on April 10, also witnessed for the first time three villages have been identified for tourism activities namely Kg Jelintoh, Kg. Sungei Itek and Kg Pintu Padang which are located gateway into tourism places in the state.

“We are also roping-in the Orang Asli to work with the PORT, to draw mural arts depicting welcoming the tourist to Gaharu Tea Valley, Homestay Gopeng, Adventure ATV and White-Water Rafting.

 


 

“There will be on-going promotions on tourism products like TT5 Dredge, Silverlakes Village Outlet and Lat Gallery, in Batu Gajah for the next few months.

“The latest insertion is the Maze Garden located at TT5 which showcase a petting zoo concept housing rabbits, chickens, birds, goats and ostrich, will indirectly bring in income for the locals here, when tourists come over for food and souvenir.

Later, Nolee presented certificates to representatives from Perbadanan Taman Negeri Perak (Geopark Lembah Kinta), Persatuan Wanita Penjana Ekonomi, TT5 Perak and SMK CM Yusof.

She also gave away donations to Persatuan Rumah Anak Yatim Soleha Kg Air Papan and SMK CM Yusof Tanjung Tualang.
