A WEDDING OF HIPPO @ LWOT

IPOH: A pair of hippopotamuses celebrated their wedding in glamour held at the Lost World of Tambun (LWOT), here.

The wedding ceremony was held in private and attended by media members and close friends due to restricted interstate travel.

JIWANG (LEFT) HAVING A GOOD TIME WITH JUWITA

The female named Juwita, aged 21, was staying in Gaborone, Bostwana, Africa before migrating to Malaysia in 2001.

Her partner Jiwang, aged 10, is an alpha hippo who came all the way from Pahang.

Juwita met Jiwang last January and they have fallen in love ever since.

After three months of knowing each other, Jiwang proposed to Juwita to be life partners.

Since then, the management have been monitoring the safety of the hippo as they are territorial animal to make sure they do not develop aggression towards each other.

They played together underwater and eat together are signs of falling in love.

However, at times there is a hate and love relationship existing between the pair.

The preparation to unite the pair into marriage started in last November.

LWOT general manager Nurul Nuzairi said a small act of kindness and compassion towards a single animal may not mean anything to all creatures but will mean everything to one.
