IPOH: Hard work and creativity paid handsomely for three calligraphers, who were winners of the first virtual khat competition organized by Ipoh Parade Mall in celebration of Hari Raya Adilfiltri.
The three best calligraphed khat of the phrase “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilftri Ipoh Parade” belonged to Ahmad Abdul Hadi, Muhammad Amir Luqman Mad Sofi and Muhammad Azinuddin Annuar, who hailed from Selangor, Perak and Sarawak, respectively.

The trio walked away with hampers worth RM150 each and a complementary 2D1N stay at Weil Hotel worth RM350.
The judges were – Mohamad Hafizuddin Mohamad Rasid and Muhammad Nazmi Mohamad Rasid.
Ipoh Parade Advertising & Promotions Assistant Manager Lim Huey Tyng said the virtual competition aimed at encouraging people from all walks of life to appreciate the beautiful art form while identifying individuals with talents in khat calligraphy.
“Contestants were given an hour to produce their respective khat pieces incorporating Jawi letters that read ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Ipoh Parade’ after which their artworks were judged based on criteria including writing style, execution, presentation and creativity,” she said.
