A TIGHTER SOP FOR PERAK DUE TO COVID-19

 

IPOH: The Perak State Government plans to monitor the standard operating procedures (SOP) seriously in every programme organized by the state in the future due to an emergence of a Covid-19 contact case in an event here, recently.

It all started with the Wow Cuti programme - a “Get Together Breaking Fast” with travel agencies and media member organized by WOWCUTI and supported by Tourism Malaysia Northern Region on April 27, held at The Haven.

The event saw 25 participants from Kedah, Penang and Perak who joined a 3D2N tour to Perak to experience the tourism products offered here including Lost World of Tambun, The Haven, TT5 Dredge and Tin Mining Museum.

 


 

State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the event aimed as a form of networking among tourism industry players, media member in the month of Ramadhan.

“According to Tourism Malaysia Northern Region they had obtained permit for the interstate travel from the police and they had adhere to the Travel Bubble Guideline SOP, temperature check and MySejatera Scan, at every visited location.

“Unfortunately, the bus driver which ferries the participants was a Covid-19 positive case, when he did his swap test on April 29.

“As such, the participants who are in direct contact with driver were immediately send for swab test and quarantined at Ulu Kinta from April 29 until May 8, and they will be going for a second swab test on May 6. They passed the first swab test with a negative for Covid-19.

“To follow suit, the media members are also contacted by Ministry of Health (KKM) for swab test on May 2, and now undergoing self-quarantine at home until May 7,” she said in a statement released in the Tourism Perak Group Chat.

When interviewed, the journalists who were involved in the swab test had undergo a ‘distress’ state of mind due to the unexpected turn of event which took place when they were covering stories for a Ramadhan event.
