IPOH: Confusion reign over vaccination by private clinic as the letter of appointment was provided by ProtectHealth Corporation, and no letter of authorization from Ministry of Health (KKM). Whether a list of approved private clinic for vaccination has been put up in any print media or website was not clear.
On the other hand, KKM should give out a letter of appointment or authorization to private clinic as a ‘prove’ of selected clinic, as such notice can be displayed in their premises.
What I understand is medical profession are not allowed to advertise. However, in this situation in order to win the confidence of the people, a certificate of authorization must be given to the selected clinic which are allowed to perform Covid-19 vaccination.
This is also to prevent bogus parties or clinic coming up and claiming that they have a permit to do so.
Some confusion started today, where some customers walked into Klinik De Era to enquire for Covid-19 vaccination. They were told to come back on Friday and Saturday 9am to 2pm for further enquiries.
Another issue is that the clinic had declared fake news posted on their FaceBook page on May 23, that they are giving out Covid-19 vaccine.
When asked to clarify on the uncertainties arising from appointed private clinic for vaccination, Klinik De Era marketing manager Brandon Hoo explained that the clinic only acts as a medium of transferring client’s particulars online to KKM, and clientele will be notified via MySejatera Apps whether they will get their vaccination done in Stadium Vaccination Centre or in De Era Clinic appointed by ProtectHealth Corporation.
“The clinic has earlier on declared fake news that the clinic did not sent out any information regarding the vaccination through any platform to public stating the clinic will be using SINOVAC from China vaccine, as they are not allowed to advertise,” he said.
A member of the MCA WhatsApps Group Chat had saw an announcement made on behalf of Klinik De Era encouraging public to sign up with the clinic.
On April 12, the Minister of Health Dr Adham Baba said private clinic will be allowed to offer the free Covid-19 vaccines in Malaysia.
About 2,304 private clinics have signed up with ProtectHealth Corporation to take part in the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his speech (May 23) said that any party and organization can buy Covid-19 vaccines as long as approved by National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) which is in charge of analysing the safety and efficacy of any Covid-19 vaccines in the country.
