GUA MASOORAT READY FOR URBAN FARMING

 

IPOH: After the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Ipoh City Council (MBI) and the Perak State Agriculture Development Corporation (PPPNP) in collaboration with Green Valley Agriculture and Rymba Management & Leisure Sdn Bhd, the parties will start off the “Urban Farming” project, held at Gua Masoorat, here.

The signing of the MOU between Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi @ Md Daud and PPPNP director Yahanis Yahya was held at Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), here.

Also present were Green Valley Agriculture representative Lim Vee Shen and Rymba Management & Leisure Sdn Bhd executive director Megat Mohd Shahrin Mohd Hamdan.

 


 

Datuk Rumaizi said there are five areas located at the foot of the hill which has been approved during the Perak State Government Council Meeting (MMK) on August 5, specifically for urban farming.

“Among the named sites are – Gunung Masoorat, Gunung Rapat, Gunung Panjang, Gunung Laiang and Gunung Gunting.

“However, Gunung Masoorat is one of the areas identified for our first Pilot Survey for urban farming project which involved 17.663 ekar, located near to Kepayang Village and Gunung Lang.

“Other parties involved in this project are – Rymba Management & Leisure which will organize eco-tourism activity such as rock climbing at Gunung Masoorat while Green Valley Agriculture will focus on Hydroponic Garden and Fertigation around the Gunung Masoorat.

“The urban farming project is in line with transforming Ipoh City to become the cleanest by 2023,” he said.
