PERAK WOMEN FOR WOMEN'S CLOTH MASKS


IPOH: The Perak Women for Women (PWW) Shop has an arrival of cloth masks for sales, here.

A kind donor has taken time to sew over 100 cloth masks.

Each cloth mask costs RM10 for three pieces.



A VARIETY OF CLOTH MASKS



The masks are all painstakingly sewn during Movement Control Order (MCO) period and generously donated to the shop.

All proceeds collected to support women and children in crises and to empower women.

The PWW shop is an empowerment project that sells new and pre-loved items donated by friends and supporters.

The money raised from sales of items helps sustain the work the society is carrying out. The shop is run by PWW members.

The shop is located at No. 15, Market Street, Ipoh.

It opens from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 3pm .

STORM & TREES



IPOH: Freak storm plays havoc with trees! The stormy weather is here to stay.

For the safety of the public, Ipoh City Council (MBI) will be trimming trees and getting rid of fallen branches and tree trunk caused by the storm on May 20.

MBI in a written statement, stated that the safety of the people in Ipoh City is their main focus for tree trimming task.


FALLEN TREE


The freak storm had caused trees to fall across the road and with the assistance of the MBI's Landscape Department, the management were committed to remove the fallen tree to avoid congestion to road users.

Among the places affected by fallen trees are – Stadium Area, Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Jalan Hospital, Greentown, Jalan Pasar, Kampung Simee and Jalan Sybil Kathigasu.

As such, for these two days, MBI will be removing the fallen trees by stages to avoid any further congestion of traffic on the specific roads.

IPOH CITY COUNCIL FOOD BOX DONATION TO RETIREE


IPOH: The Ipoh City Council's Retiree Association (PERMAI) gave away 105 boxes of food items to its members.

Ipoh City Council's Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin and PERMAI president Datuk Mohamad Rafial Moktar presented the food boxes to the representatives.

Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the donation aimed to help the retiree who find difficulties in leaving their homes to get their necessities, during the Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Some of them who are still working are now financially affected by the extension of the MCO,” he said.


IPOH CITY COUNCIL DONATED FOOD BOXES TO PERMAI


PERMAI was set up in 2009 by the former Mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim to assist the welfare of the retiree and it had served as a platform for fostering relationship between City Council and the former staff. In addition, the association helps retiree in the form of monetary aid and buying necessities during economic crises, natural disaster and accident cases.

PERMAI Kinta Bhd Cooperative has also contributed financially to the association in order for it to run economic activities for the benefit of the retiree.

LOST WORLD OF TAMBUN #dudukrumahchallenge


IPOH: The public is invited to send in memorable photographs to Lost World of Tambun (LWOT) Facebook via #dudukrumahchallenge, to share with friends.

They can send in beautiful photographs of “throwback moment” they had spent during their recent visit to the water theme park.

In the meantime, LWOT's team members will keep the public informed of the going-on and how the animals are keeping up during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

PANTAI HOSPITAL'S BLOOD DONATION DRIVE


IPOH: Some 100 donors came forward to donate blood organised by Pantai Hospital Ipoh (PHI), here.

The event themed “ Save Life Give Blood, Be A Blood Hero” was a one-day event jointly supported by Great Eastern Life Assurance and Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB).

PHI chief executive officer Chong Siet Fong said the National Blood Centre had appealed to the public urgently to donate blood, as the Covid-19 outbreak has caused a reduction in the number of donors, leading to a low blood bank levels.

The shortage of blood supply is now further intensified during the month of Ramadan.

In addition, the movement control order (MCO) has led to blood donation activities being affected, with scheduled donation campaigns canceled,” she said.

Meanwhile HRPB representative of Blood Transfusion Department Dr Mala Mutushamy said there was a decline of 40% in terms of collection of blood, which was to be channeled to government, district and private hospitals.

Great Eastern Super Group Northern Region Social Affairs & Recreation Bureau representative Liew Choo Kong said the company aimed to keep on setting up blood donation campaign in the Northern Region  to prevent over shortage of blood supply in the Blood Bank Centre.

In another note, in conjunction with International Nurses Day, PHI had donated 250 food boxes to Malaysia Welfare Department followed with two cartons of milk powder donated by the nurses themselves for the unprivileged children through Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia Perak.
