IPOH INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION OPENS

 

IPOH: The Ipoh International Convention (IICC), Bond Suites, IICC Co-Working Space will be open for business, next month.

It is a tri-party collaboration between Ipoh City Council (MBI), Bond Holdings Sdn Bhd and Sycal Bhd aimed at transforming an ‘old charm’ Ipoh into the city of future and taking Ipoh to greater heights to attract more business tourists into the city.

The Bond Holdings Sdn Bhd, is a property developer providing a modern township in Ipoh while Sycal Bhd is a construction group.

The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation witnessed by Menteri Besar of Perak Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

 

ONE FOR THE ALBUM

 

Datuk Saarani said the presence of IICC would provide venue opportunity to locals and foreigners in carrying forward businesses all integrated under one roof.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the focal point of the collaboration will begin with the management of the IICC, a 28,000 sq ft facility that includes a multi-purpose events all to accommodate annual dinners, corporate talks, trade exhibitions, community bazaars, conferences and workshop.  

“Bond Holdings manages the brand new luxurious Bond Suites, an open concept suite accompanied by a range of on-site facilities designed to offer the perfect lifestyle.

“Connected with the Bond Suites, is the IICC Co-Working Space an ideal facility for young professionals who want to live and work and enjoy the exuberance of city lives, and also to attract them back to work in Perak.

“It comes with ultra-fast internet connection, shared amenities and networking environment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bond Holdings Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ong Teng Boon said they were excited to work with MBI in its vision to create a cleaner, greener and a developed city, and Sycal Bhd the main contractor for the project.

PETTING ZOO @ GUNUNG LANG OPENS

 

Ipoh: For the first time, Petting Zoo @ Gunung Lang is now open to the public which showcase 25 animals, here.

Visitors can now get closed to the animals at the zoo, which opens from 10am to 6pm, daily.

Currently, the petting zoo housed rabbit, raccoon, snakes, iguana, birds, pony, ostrich and chicken, at a spacious 4.5 acres of land.

The Petting Zoo is a joint smart partnership between Ipoh City Council (MBI) and Petting Zoo Operator. MBI has rented out its land to the proprietor of the Petting Zoo to carry out the business.

Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the Petting Zoo was one of the new tourism products initiated on March 2020, and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the council had to reschedule the opening till December which was timely with the school holidays.

“The council plays a role in assisting the state government in the tourism industry mainly in the aspect of infrastructure and promotion.

“Gunung Lang lies within the Geopark Kinta area, is one of Ipoh’s important tourism product where we have selected to start a Petting Zoo, here,”, he said  adding that there are 90,000 visitors to Gunung Lang in 2019.

Meanwhile Nurmalis Musa said that the Petting Zoo was first of its kind of zoo, set-up by the state government which could create a place for children and family to visit, in Ipoh.

Ticket is priced at RM6 (adult/children). Child below two years old is free.

MBI’S TOURISM AGENDA

 

IPOH: For the first time, Ipoh folks will get to enjoy a Mini Botanical Garden Ipoh located at D.R. Seenivasagam Park.

“The concept of the garden is ‘Forest in the City’, features five elements of traditional plants namely Staple Tree, Carpentry Tree, Animism Tree, Medical Tree and Beauty Plants.

“The ground breaking ceremony for the project will take place on January 21,” said Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud during a full board meeting, here.

Datuk Rumaizi Baharin also said that Ipoh City Council (MBI) would assist the State Government in the aspect of tourism activities such as providing proper infrastructure around tourism areas and developing tourism places like Cermin Lake, Firdaus and Mat Soorat Hill.

“MBI will also be working closely with Perak Agricultural Development Corporation to initiate the Urban Farming project and tourism places near Mat Soorat Hill.

“An Ampitheatre (Floating Stage) which costs RM2 million is expected to be built in D.R. Seenivasagam Park, financially assisted by the State Government.

“The objective of the stage is for purposes of entertainment, sport and performances promoting local culture.

“The state government has also allocated RM2.6 million for construction works at Gerbang Malam (Night Market) situated at Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, to provide comfort and safety measures to tourists, here.

“Lastly, the council will be putting up 15 plaque providing information of historical buildings located along the Ipoh Heritage Trail, costing RM200,000 where the allocation comes from state government,” he said.
