PAVITHRA, YOU DESERVE THE AWARD

The day before (Monday/July 20)

I attended an assignment invited by ipoh City Council (MBI), where the subject matter is the presence of  YouTuber Pavithra at the press conference, held at a meeting room.

I told myself, I wanted to meet the YouTube sensation ‘in person’ as I have read a lot on “Sugu-Pavithra” YouTube Channel, on cooking.

As per normal, the duo entered the meeting room with Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud. The press conference began with the introduction of the Icon Ipoh Award, and S. Pavithra was the first person chosen for the Icon Ipoh, among the 10 awardees.

The Icon Ipoh Award 2020 is supposed to take place in June (in conjunction of Ipoh City Day), next year.

Those who had missed my first chapter of the story, can check it out in my FB/Blog.

S. PAVITHRA RECEIVING A HAMPER FROM DATUK RUMAIZI BAHARIN. LOOKING ON - M. SUGU

The day after (Tuesday/July 21)

I read reports from newspaper and online news on Wednesday – the unbelievable thing had happened – stated that Pavithra was beaten by her husband M. Sugu over a small matter because his name was not mentioned during the press conference, the day after the award. The event took place at a car park (General Hospital Ipoh) while the wife (Pavithra) was supposed to meet her sister in the hospital. The husband was then charged under the Sessions court for unlawful possession of a sickle and causing injuries to a person.

Yesterday (Friday/July24)

According to the charge sheet read in the Court – he had attacked her using a handphone and sickle causing injuries on her left cheek, lips and right arm. He was on bail after the family members paid off RM10,000 (bail).

The couple told the press members – they want to return to ordinary lifestyle focusing on their channel, and they had decided to withdrawn themselves from Icon Ipoh Award.

THE WRITER POSING WITH YOUTUBER S PAVITHRA

MY COMMENT: As I do not report on criminal matters, I will give a brief account of it as my followers have asked me what happened to Pavithra.

It is good, I appreciated the feedback from my readers, it shows that people are concerned over the whole thing.

I also realized that the netizen who has been following Pavithra stories gave feedback/comments on the matter. Some wishes the couple ‘All the best”, some educates the couple on words of encouragement and some gave a straightforward opinion of how they felt of the whole chapter. This shows people care if not they would not bother to comment a word or two in the social media.

As a law graduate myself, I have opted family law as one of the paper in my final year in LLB. During my chambering, I also opted for family law. To me, family matters is the most complicated issue – no one can understand the pain of another family.  Family stays together if they can overcome all the ups and downs in life. It is easy said than done. I believe that Pavithra is now going through a difficult phase in life, we should give her some ‘space’ to sort things out with her spouse. No one has the right to judge them.

Besides, she became popular overnight – as a YouTuber – and she may not know how to deal with the journalist lifestyle as we (journalist) have been through. A YouTuber is also considered a journalist (Video Journalist) as she posed interesting subject in her food channel.

I sincerely feel:  “What is wrong with Pavithra getting the Icon Ipoh Award? Why should she reject the award just to make her husband happy? There is nothing wrong of getting been appreciated by the society. Pavithra, You deserved the award. Not many people make it in the You Tube World!”
