MERDEKA VESPA RIDE 2020



IPOH: Some 100 riders participated in the Merdeka Vespa Ride 2020 to demonstrate their love for their country in conjunction with National Day.

The event themed “Malaysia Prihatin” (Malaysia is concerned) was hosted by Sunway Lost World of Tambun (SLWOT).

The convoy, with the Jalur Gemilang attached to their bikes, participated in the ride from Penang and Putrajaya in conjunction with the launching of new model Vespa Sei Giorni II Edition to SLWOT, and continue the riding to Ipoh town right after their pit stop.

Guest-of-honour was State Youth, Sports, Communications & Multimedia Committee chairman YB Khairul Shahril Mohamed who flagged off the ride as they journeyed from LWOT – Jalan Tambun – Old Town.

MBI BUDGET 2021



IPOH: Ipoh City Council (MBI) is taking a precautionary move in drafting the budget 2021 in accordance to the recent COVID-19 situation which it had caused an economic crises and challenging circumstances. 

As such, the council hopes to be careful in managing its finances via cautious expenditure, increase productivity and cutting costs when necessary, in line with the principle of “Best Value For Money”, for next year.

The budget is also in line with the  Guidelines of the Perak State Budget while in preparation of its coming Budget 2021, to maintain stability of the state’s physical economy.

MBI hopes to achieve its mission of “Ipoh City Citizens’ Welfare” focusing on making Ipoh a Clean, Green & Advance City in the context of three mission namely – Ipoh, Cleanest City 2023, Ipoh, Low Carbon City 2030, Ipoh and Smart City 2030.

The council is taking proactive steps to fulfil this mission via increased activity involving community in introducing programmes for transformation of the city and inviting locals to contribute ideas for the betterment of the city.

So far, there are about 422 ideas provided by 108 respondents from all ages and races. The ideas included programmes on cleanliness and beautification (141), infrastructure/management of city (114), licensing/hawkers (54) and aids to needy community (113).

The Council has made an analysis on the income for early 2020 – showing a decrease in income of RM14 million injecting a 6% fall compared to RM220 million last year. The cause of the decrease is due to the current economy crises as well as taking into consideration of the difficulty of the people, the council then reduced their rental for market lots, stalls and housing for a six months period.

As such, the council expectation for 2021, it hopes to collect a total of RM220 million revenue income, an increase of RM14 million + 6% increase compared to 2020. The highest collection MBI may be able to collect from tax is RM150 million + 68% - based on the increased of property owners in the Ipoh City. The second collection may come from Non-Tax revenue is RM52 million + 24% and Non-Revenue Collection at RM18 million + 8%.

MBI BUDGET 2021



Agenda 1: Cleanliness and Beautification Project 

Allocation for RM4.5 million
1.       Educating the public on cleanliness
2.       Providing Dust bin around the city centre/public park/tourism centre
3.       Providing Tong Roro (Huge Dustbin) at market area
4.       Fixing of CCTV at hotspot area
5.       Trimming and cutting of trees – expected 400,000 trees
6.       Putting up lighting and posters

Agenda 2 – Public Utilities & Parks

Council is allocating RM4 million for construction of public utilities and gardens, to improve gardens, public toilets, fixing exercise equipment and children’s play equipment, set up Terminal E-Hailing in suitable spots in Ipoh for “Pick Up Centre” to prevent traffic jam.

Agenda 3 – Infrastructure Project

Council plans to allocate RM4.5 million to be used to improve infrastructure in Ipoh City, to improve lighting, adding more zebra crossing/OKU lanes/bicycle lanes, improve drainage system, and constructing ponds to mitigate flood.

Agenda 4 – Building and Property Project

Allocation of RM4.0 million for social asset.
Include renovation of public market, flat, public hall and food court.

Agenda 5 – Council Property Project

Allocation of RM6 million to purchase of lorry and machinery, lawn mower, special vehicle for transportation of wild animals, Passengers Boat @ Gunung Lang Recreational Park, to repair lorry and machinery.

Agenda 6 – Low Carbon City Project 

Allocation of RM2 million to plant 1,500 trees in the gardens, implementing ‘Program Kitar Semula’ in housing areas and changing city lighting to LED lighting (Solar Sensor).


Agenda 7 – Smart City Project

Allocation of RM2 million comprising of digital culture improving the internet services at strategic location in the city, to improve Council digital services, LED lighting & CCTV, Introducing PARK@ Perak application and E-WALLET project and Smart Bin.

Agenda 8 – Social Project

Allocation is RM1 million to organize social and charitable event meant for B40 group, single mother, physically challenged persons (OKU) and senior citizen, activating Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) to decrease the rental rate for council premises, fastened the application of business license procedure and free promotion for businesses.
