LONDON WETLAND CENTRE

LONDON WETLAND CENTRE

London Wetland Centre – is for those who love anything 'wet' under the sun!

It comprises of 42ha of beautiful wetlands created by the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.

The centre is located at Queen Elizabeth's Walk, Barnes, London SW13 9WT, and opens daily.

COOL COLORFUL DUCK

WWT London is the best urban wildlife site in Europe, located next to the Thames, it is close to the heart of the capital. As reported in The Times “When you enter, you leave London behind”.

According to BBC Autumnwatch presenter Chris Packham said that “WWT London Wetland Centre is one of the most important conservation projects of the past century – giving millions of people the opportunity to encounter wildlife up close”.

LONDON WETLAND CENTRE

Bustle gives way to tranquil scenes of greenery-flanked pools inhabited by rare and beautiful wildlife including bitterns, kingfishers and water voles.

The centre is one of the best wildlife habitats in the country attracting more than 180 species of birds, eight species of bats and more than 500 species of moths and butterflies.

PLAYFUL BIRDS

My feelings for this place is peaceful and rather relaxing amongst nature - it is a good place for kids as they run wild in explore of wildlife.

Easily, a visitor can take 12 minutes' walk to the Peacock tower and 10 minutes' walk to Wildside Hide. A one-day detour of centre is recommended.

One will come across the following – Observatory (view of wildlife), Discovery Centre (interactive indoor fun for children), Water's edge cafe, pond zone (underwater camera – pond dipping and a journey down the plughole), adventure area (zip wire, giant water vole tunnels), Berkeley bat house (designer home for bats), wild reserve (100 species), world wetlands (endangered birds) and RBC Rain Garden (stream-mellow-lush vegetation.

A PAIR OF FLAMINGO

I really like the world wetlands area – meeting up with some of the world's most endangered birds, here. I can easily touch (No touching please!) the birds like ducks, flamingo and peacock, as they move beside me.
