A NEW IMAGE FOR TUN RAZAK LIBRARY

IPOH: The Tun Razak Library (PTR) is the first government building decorated with mural arts in Ipoh during the pandemic period.

The mural art project was painted by five artists from Graffite Management on August 1, and it took them only three weeks to complete the mural arts.

The concept of the mural arts showcased 3D books, word “Iqra”, a boy reading a book among others, which is also in line with the concept of ‘smart city’ incorporating modern gadget and digital images.

Ipoh City Council secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak said that the council was in the preparatory stage to create mural arts within the exterior of the library during Phase 1 (MCO).

“The objective of the mural arts is to attract local tourists to come over to the library and take photograph or selfie, followed up with uploading their photographs in social media, when comes Phase 2.

“The whole project costs about RM50,000, as our artists need to source for branded spray paint which can lasts say five years, and not fade away easily.

He added that the council planned to construct a digital library to compliment Ipoh as a “smart city”, in the future.

Later, PTR assistant officer (management) Rohayu Mohd Tahir led the media members for a detour to view the mural arts.
