IPOH: For the first time, the blind community were taken for a bicycle ride around DR Seenivasagam Park, here.
The charity event was organized jointly by Tourist Guide Association, Perak Tourism, Pusat Latihan & Pemulihan Lembah Kinta Persatuan Bagi Orang Buta Malaysia and Cycledios.
Guest-of-honour was State Tourism Committee chairman Datok Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi.
Also present were Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa, Perak Tourist Guide Association chairman Roselyn Lim and CycleDios general manager Camees Foong.
Nolee said
this was the fourth charitable event and the first one involving HoHo Bus and
bicycle.
“We want the blind community to experience the fun of these rides and also want to promote Perak as a safe place for the abled and disabled persons to tour in the State of Perak,” she said.
Roselyn Lim said that there were 22 disabled who joined in the charity cycle jou ride and the HoHo Bus ride.
“The HoHo bus ride starts off from Gunung Rapat-OldTown and finally ends at Dr Seenivasagam Park where they have a chance to go for a bicycle ride accompanied by our tourist guides.
“We want the blind people to experience the cycling ride where they can experience/feel the steering and paddles while on the bicycle.
“Strict standard operating practice (SOP) are followed such as using of mask, hand glove and sanitizer while at the rides,” she said.
Later, the group were invited to Impiana Hotel Ipoh for a sumptuous dinner.
