IPOH: Pantai Hospital Ipoh (PHI) had recently unveiled its new façade comprising of sophisticated architectural design that refines the standard of health care, here.

The city of Ipoh is known for its beautiful nostalgic landmarks, and now adding to its elegance, is the futuristic design of PHI combines the element of green building technology.

Due to its unique and modern design that adapts green building concepts, Persatuan Architect Malaysia (PAM) has bestowed Kuee Architect and PHI with the PAM Awards 2021 for excellence in architect (for Pantai Hospital Façade Rebranding, in the category of Alteration and Rebranding).

The PAM award recognition also reflects efforts made by the City Council for city beautification and with the presence of Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud to commemorate PAM Award 2021 to PHI.

The new façade of the hospital incorporates the most innovative and interesting features of the green building technology, and it facilitates the harvesting and usage of natural rainwater.

This harvested rainwater is productively utilized for the new planter automated irrigation system for the planter boxes that are installed in the different levels of the building.

Patient’s experience being of utmost concern, the radical design of the façade has carved out squares in the existing windows to have direct view out. The greenery in the planter boxes is a refreshing sight from both inside and outside the building and promotes mental and physical health.

PHI chief executive officer Chong Siet Fong said that although having an awe-inspiring look can be appealing to the eye, other factors which we considered when choosing our façade material included its durability, ease of installation, material maintenance cost and its resistance to chemicals.

“Eco-friendly facades and sustainable options are great choices when it comes to designing a hospital.

“We work closely with a multi professional team who both clinically and design orientated in the construction of the façade blueprint,” she said.
