IPOH: Kuala Pari Bridge gets a facelift, and the public can now access the bridge from Pengkalan to Menglembu, which was closed since last September.
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) had engaged Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd to reconstruct the 100-metre bridge which was badly damage due to rain.
Zon 16 (Tebing Tinggi) councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin launched the Sg. Kledang bridge held at Jalan Kuala Pari Hilir, Kampung Kuala Pari, here.
Also present at the launching ceremony were MBI Engineering Director Azman Mohd Harun, Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd (PEISB) manager Zainal Othman and Mukim Lahat penghulu Ekmal Hidhir Mohamed Mokhtar.
Ahmad said the reopening of the bridge would create convenience to the residents here to transit from Pengkalan and Menglembu, within a short span of time.
“The upgrading of the Sg Kledang Bridge was supposed to start on August 27 last year but was delayed due to frequent heavy rain that cause further damages on the bridge for the second time round.
“The reconstruction of the bridge into a new one coupled with retaining wall took 36 weeks to complete where construction works started on last November 16, utilizing RM1.8 million,” he said.
