IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has played an active role in assisting the Kinta District Disaster Committee and the Perak state government in many ways during the covid-19 pandemic period.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the council had assisted in setting up a vaccination centre located at stadium without charging rental fees but instead providing them with cleaning services, here.

“The cleaning services include washing the interior of centre, rubbish collection and disposal, providing reception staff, car park attendance and security for vaccine placement.

“MBI has also prepare a proper place for Covid-19 swab test at the Tennis Court and placement of Covid-19 patient held at the Badminton Court,” he said during the June full board meeting.

On another issue, Rumaizi said that the council had provided free rental for four months to trader at Ipoh Market and Food Court which involved 1,000 traders amounting to RM80,000 allocation.

“The council continued to waive the one-month rental, involving 824 traders at the Ipoh Market which comes to RM20,000, during the continuing of the movement control order”.

“In another matter, an urban farming project was initiated at the Tun Razak Library where the staff had used part of the land for planting of vegetables using solar energy hydroponic technology.

“In return, the staff benefit from free vegetables planted at the library, and this help to reduce financial burden of having to buy it from market” he said.
