Media members from Perak have been calling upon the government to fasten the pace of getting vaccinated, to enable them to carry out their work safely.
Till date, the media members from the state have yet to be notified via MySejatera Apps nor any representative of the press association regarding their appointment for vaccination.
As such, the Perak Media Practitioners’ Association (PPMP) in a written letter - called upon the government to speed up the Covid-19 vaccine for media members who are part of the frontliners and they have been serving since the days when the country is faced with the pandemic, last year.
MEDIA MEMBERS IN PERAK APPEALING FOR VACCINATION
PPMP chairman Sayed Mohd Hesham Syed Idris said the media practitioner in Perak and other states have yet to receive any notification via the MySejatera Apps with regards to Covid-19 vaccination appointments.
“The Coordinating Minister of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin had earlier stated that media members who have registered under the programme will get vaccinated for their first dose tomorrow (June 9).
“The appointment date for vaccination for the media members are given out on June 7, however, the media in Perak has yet to receive any notification.
“The reporters have been performing their job, running around pursuing stories even during the pandemic period, and there are occasions when the media members have come into close contact with a Covid-19 person, where they then need to undergo the quarantine process for one week.
“On May 3, a total of 22 reporters from various news agencies were quarantined due to contact with a Covid-19 person, when carrying out their duties of reporting on the grounds. Reporters have higher risk of getting contact with Covid-19 person due to their nature of work,” he said.
Responding to PPMP, the Info Media Group Chat has started collecting names of the media members to be delivered to the National Information Department, and Perak Information Department by tomorrow (June 9) to get approval for vaccination and appointment dates.
