IPOH MAYOR'S 100 DAYS



IPOH – 10 JULY, 2020: Today July 10 marks the 100th days of Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud taking office as the Mayor of Ipoh City (MBI).

During the 100 days, he has achieved numerous objectives for the Ipoh folks mainly in terms of economic, agriculture, land matters, education and tourism sectors.

In line with tourism, Datuk Rumaizi 's vision is to transform Ipoh into a First Class City in the World, and will continue to maintain the status of Ipoh City been listed as one of the 10 Most Visited City in Asia, and the sixth largest city in Asia.

The criteria of making Ipoh City running in the list and named as the Food Haven – is the diversity of food offered namely Nasi Vanggey Yong Suan and White Coffee. The council has used the concept of Placemaking for its urban planning in order to achieve the following – to improve innovation among traders, community development towards local economy, exhibiting Malaysian culture, promotion of the unique culture/tradition and to improve integration of the locals, here.

In addition, Ipoh City will be known as “Ipoh Food Valley” - turning it into a collection and distribution hub for raw materials for agricultural products and as the largest manufacturer in the country.


GREEN IPOH


The Ipoh Smart City 2030 Blue Print is aimed to initiate a “Smart City” and with the assistance of City Planning Department, PlanMalaysia and University Malaya, the plan will include to arrange the city according to the suitability of a location which should be ready by August 2020. The initiatives will include transforming the Ipoh City into a “Cleaner”, “Greener”, “Advance” and “More Developed” City.

Next, the City's Low Carbon Programme is introduced to curb the issue of climate change involving temperature rise, heavy rain and thunder storm. The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre will work together with MBI to introduce a Low Carbon Zone in the Ipoh City, by August 2020.

Lastly, the issues of conversion of illegal hawkers into legal by providing a proper place for them to trade in the future.
