FIRST OF ITS KIND WOOD GALLERY

BUKIT MERAH: The first and only Bukit Merah Wood Gallery in the country is now opening parts of its gallery corner for visitors, here.

The gallery is located at 59241, Bukit Merah Industrial Estate, Batu 41/2, Jalan Lahat, 31500, Ipoh.

There is different zone around the gallery namely cafe, art & painting, workshop, wood design, wood factory, movie/short film, artist, music and garden.

 

CAFE

 

A detour around the gallery is an eye opener as one can experience and understand in depth on the production of wood, the making of wood souvenir, wood art & culture and the beauty of wood.

 

EXHIBITS AT THE CORRIDOR

 

One can also have a tropical feel of the local wood products which is still available in the country. 

 

MOVIE AREA

 

Rafflesia Eco Bhd chief executive officer Tan Kai Lek said that the wood gallery which is similar to a 'live' sawmill museum, is possibly the first of its kind in the country.

 

WORKSHOP

 

“The Menglembu (Jalan Lahat) area was once popular for sawmill factory and there are about 40 sawmills in the past.

 

ARTIST AREA

 

“Today, what is left is two original sawmills and we need to start up a wood gallery to remind people of these sawmills.

 “The gallery is frequented by tourists, wood lovers and professional people, as they come here not only to view the different type of woods, wood sculpture, paintings and also to learn more about anything link to wood.

“We will guide our visitors through the different zone, take photograph and tried out an on-hands workshop conducted by our staff.

“We hope to sell a memorable trip to our visitors while they experience the walk through of a wood gallery,” he said.

Tan, who hails from a sawmill generation, is happy to depart his knowledge of wood to whoever presence in his wood gallery.

Meanwhile, CB Red Label marketing consulting Thomas Pan said there will be a one-day tour to visit Lion Hill Gopeng, CB Biscuit, Herbal Garden, Bunbury Restaurant & Cafe (lunch) and Bukit Merah Wood Product Gallery.

The wood gallery is open from 9am to 5pm (Monday to Saturday).

Entrance fee is RM10 per person.
