MID AUTUMN WEEKEND AT IPOH PARADE

MID AUTUMN WEEKEND AT IPOH PARADE

IPOH: The Mid Autumn Festival is just round the corner!

The Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall is organising a 3-day cultural immersion from September 7 until 9, held at its ground floor main atrium, here.

The event was jointly organised by Ipoh Parade and Lions Club International.

To start off, there will be an Arts & Crafts Workshop and Traditional Costume Photo Booth available from 12 noon until 8pm, for the whole three days.

On September 7, there will also be a Mid Autumn Costume Competition, open to children below 12 years old where they can show off their best costume coupled with a catwalk on stage.

Highlight of the event is the Lantern Making Competition where there is the on-site category, for children aged between 10 to 12 years, and another for those aged 13 to 15 years.

The children will have to bring their own recycled materials to make the lantern held at the main atrium of the shopping mall. They can be accompanied by one adult during the lantern making event. The lantern making is scheduled from 2pm to 5pm, on September 8.

On the other hand, there is the off-site category for participants of any ages where they can choose to create and decorate their lanterns at the mall on September 7 – 8. Each participant for the on-site and off-site categories will received a certificate of completion.

In addition, on September 8 there will be an LED Lion Dance performance at 7.30pm followed with a Lantern Parade outside the mall. Free lantern will be given out for the first 500 shoppers, here. There will also be a Fusion Dance Performance at 8.30pm, on the same day.

On September 9, shoppers will be entertained by local singers Nick & Stella, and a Meet & Greet Session with their fans at 4pm onwards.

Ipoh Parade Assistant Manager (Advertising & Promotion) Lim Huey Ting said the Mid Autumn Festival is a time for family and friends to get together and we have brought in fun-filled activities for everyone to enjoy together.

We are targeting about 100 contestants for the lantern making competition, and a total of RM10,000 worth of prizes will be given away including cash, vouchers and trophies,” she said.

Event organising chairperson Jenimm Foo said the event aimed to support the environment where we encouraged the public to use recycled materials to make the lantern.

There are 15 lions club involved in this lantern making project including Ipoh MALI, Ipoh Host, Ipoh Central, Ipoh Tin Valley, Ipoh Evergreen, Ipoh Heritage, Ipoh Centennial, Ipoh Mandarin, Pusing Mandarin, Batu Gajah, Kampar, Cameron Hillview, Bidor Classic, Sunway Damansara Metro and Puchong,” said Foo.
