IPOH: Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah was on a working visit to the COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment Low Risk (PKRC) Centre, held at Arena Badminton, here.
PKRC medical director Dr Liaw Kok Toon presented a briefing on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, in Perak.
PKRC was set up on November 28, 2020 by the State Health Department and Perak State Government to house patient identified as positive cases of Covid-19 for treatment from the state.
The centre has 210 beds catered for COVID-19 patient from category 1 and 2 (non- symptom/light symptom), who are not suitable to undergo quarantine at home.
There is a total of 86 medical staff serving at the centre - from State Health Department, District Health Office, Police Force, Malaysia Welfare Department, Ipoh City Council, RELA and UEM Edgenta.
As of February 13, PKRC reported 1,416 patients were treated in PKRC whereby 98 of them are active cases and who are still receiving treatment here.
As a whole, 760 cases (54%) comprised of males followed with 1,218 (86%) aged 19-59, and 1,185 cases (84%) are Malaysian citizen.
