IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has deferred penalizing the residents who are late in paying their assessment for the whole of this year.
Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud in a full board meeting said that the reason was due to the Covid-19 pandemic, MBI urged the residents who are facing financial difficulties to come for a discussion, and come up with a solution on how to pay off their assessment bills in stages in accordance to the residents’ financial abilities for the year.

“The two dates for paying assessment bills have been extended – for the first 1/2021 will continue until April 2021, while the second 2/2021 will continue to October 31, this year.
“For residents who have paid their assessment for the whole year (without delay) before February 28, will be eligible for Lucky Draws worth a total of RM76,000.
“Some 813 operators of small businesses who are renting stalls at Ipoh Market (Pasar Besar Ipoh) will be exempted from paying rents for three months from March to May, and an additional financial assistance of RM69,000 to the tenants,” he said.
Rumaizi added that for those who paid traffic offences compound over the counter would get a discount of 30% from March 1 to September, 2021.
“However, for those who paid their traffic compound via online will get a discount of 50% from March 1 until year end, to encourage the culture of new norm” he said.
