MBIFREEWIFI FOR IPOH CITY

 

IPOH: Sungai Tapah Manjoi is the first area in Ipoh City to receive the MBIFREEWIFI services, here.

The other 19 selected areas for the MBIFREEWIFI include Children’s Playground (Gerbang Malam), Kinta River Walk, Kampung Seri Kinta, Medan Kidd, Bercham and Menglembu, among others.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud launched the MBIFREEWIFE held at Sungai Tapah Community Hall.

Rumaizi said there were 20 locations selected to receive free WiFi services running at a speed of 300 Mbps under the council’s MBIFREEWIFI programme.

“The WiFi facility aims to assist students engaging in Teaching & Study at Home (PdPR) as well as to follow Teacher Saarani Tuition Programme which was launched by Menteri Besar Perak on February 3.

“In addition, the WiFi facility also assist businessmen in promoting their products in the market via internet.

“MBIFREEWIFI can accommodate 200 to 250 WiFi users at one time coupled with a 50-metre coverage from the location allotted for free WiFi.

“The council has allocated RM200,000 for the cost of the whole MBIFREEWIFI project, and RM50,000 internet billing per year,” he said adding the project for 20 locations will complete by April-end.

Later, Rumaizi presented ten tablets to residents of Kampung Manjoi listed under the B40 group for the purposes of PdPR.

ASSESSMENTS & TRAFFIC COMPOUND

 

IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has deferred penalizing the residents who are late in paying their assessment for the whole of this year.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud in a full board meeting said that the reason was due to the Covid-19 pandemic, MBI urged the residents who are facing financial difficulties to come for a discussion, and come up with a solution on how to pay off their assessment bills in stages in accordance to the residents’ financial abilities for the year.

“The two dates for paying assessment bills have been extended – for the first 1/2021 will continue until April 2021, while the second 2/2021 will continue to October 31, this year.

“For residents who have paid their assessment for the whole year (without delay) before February 28, will be eligible for Lucky Draws worth a total of RM76,000.

“Some 813 operators of small businesses who are renting stalls at Ipoh Market (Pasar Besar Ipoh) will be exempted from paying rents for three months from March to May, and an additional financial assistance of RM69,000 to the tenants,” he said.

Rumaizi added that for those who paid traffic offences compound over the counter would get a discount of 30% from March 1 to September, 2021.

“However, for those who paid their traffic compound via online will get a discount of 50% from March 1 until year end, to encourage the culture of new norm” he said.

PRESERVING KINTA VALLEY GEOSITE

Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah was accompanied by Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources (KeTSA) chief secretary Datuk Zurinah Pawanteh, State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Norlee Ashlin Mohammed Radzi, Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud and Malaysia Mineral and Geoscience Department (JMG) chief director Hisamuddin Termidi, made a visit to Gua Matsoorat and Gunung Lang geosite.

 


 

Dr Shamsul said the Kinta Valley Geopark would be assessed every four years to ensure specified criteria laid down by the National Geopark is followed, such as conserving  sustainable developments elements and to provide benefits to local community thus improving tourism potential and the development of infrastructure at the geosites.

 


 

“In order to persevere the geopark in Kinta Valley, KeTSA via JMG (Perak) will assist the state government in technical issues including providing information regards to geosite resources and development of the Geopark, as well as to create awareness programme for the locals, to ensure Kinta Valley Geopark remains relevant as National Geopark, in future.

 


 

Dr Shamsul also announced that KeTSA had allocated RM9 million under the National Budget Initiative 2021, to launch the Reskill Upskill – Eco Tourism Training programme, for local community groups and Orang Asli residing around the eco-tourism areas including Geopark and geosites.

 


 

Later, the guests visited the exhibition booths and gallery, and ended with a photography session.
