IPOH: “Bringing back Ipoh to its glorious day of being one of the cleanest cities in the country is in the pipeline,” said Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @Md Daud during a full board meeting @ Ipoh City Council (MBI).
“We hope to achieve the cleanest city title, by the year 2023.
“Firstly, MBI has engaged Syarikat Majuperak Utilities Management Sdn Bhd (MUMSB) to carry out services of waste management at Meru Zone, on January 1.
“For a start, the services will benefit 10,649 premises living in Meru Zone, and 5,696 premises in Manjoi Zone.
“Next, the council will be launching a programme on the Distribution of Movable Rubbish Bin (120 litre) whereby 20,000 rubbish bin to be distributed to Ipoh folks by March, and it is expected that all business premises and housing areas will be equipped with individual rubbish bin by 2023.
“The council has also purchased 14 lorries run by 14 drivers and 56 workers to carry out the task of collecting rubbish at housing areas in the city. Each lorry is able to carry eight tones of rubbish.
“In addition, the council has allocated RM3 million at the initial stage, to upgrade the infrastructure and facilities held at food courts and market place in the city,” he said.
