MBI’S TOURISM AGENDA

 

IPOH: For the first time, Ipoh folks will get to enjoy a Mini Botanical Garden Ipoh located at D.R. Seenivasagam Park.

“The concept of the garden is ‘Forest in the City’, features five elements of traditional plants namely Staple Tree, Carpentry Tree, Animism Tree, Medical Tree and Beauty Plants.

“The ground breaking ceremony for the project will take place on January 21,” said Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud during a full board meeting, here.

Datuk Rumaizi Baharin also said that Ipoh City Council (MBI) would assist the State Government in the aspect of tourism activities such as providing proper infrastructure around tourism areas and developing tourism places like Cermin Lake, Firdaus and Mat Soorat Hill.

“MBI will also be working closely with Perak Agricultural Development Corporation to initiate the Urban Farming project and tourism places near Mat Soorat Hill.

“An Ampitheatre (Floating Stage) which costs RM2 million is expected to be built in D.R. Seenivasagam Park, financially assisted by the State Government.

“The objective of the stage is for purposes of entertainment, sport and performances promoting local culture.

“The state government has also allocated RM2.6 million for construction works at Gerbang Malam (Night Market) situated at Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, to provide comfort and safety measures to tourists, here.

“Lastly, the council will be putting up 15 plaque providing information of historical buildings located along the Ipoh Heritage Trail, costing RM200,000 where the allocation comes from state government,” he said.
