IPOH: YMCA Ipoh will have its first artificial grass tennis court to cater for members and public, here.
The members of the club led by YMCA president Datuk Daniel Tay and BP Healthcare vice president Garvy Beh performed a groundbreaking ceremony for tennis court, today (October 15).
The event also saw a mock cheque presentation of RM200,000 presented by BP Healthcare to YMCA Ipoh, witnessed BP Healthcare ambassador National Sports Player – Goh Liu Ying and Leong Mun Yee.
Highlighting CSR of BP Healthcare was presented by Vicky Law and Thomas Kok followed with appreciation by Dr Yee Meng Kheong (Captain of the YMCA Ipoh Lawn Tennis Fraternity) and Richard Wu (YMCA Ipoh Tennis Group).
Daniel Tay said that the new tennis court would be constructed soon, was the sixth tennis court for the club.
“Currently, the club has five tennis courts comprises of two with hard court and three with grass court.
“The grass court tennis is believed to be the first in Perak and one of the five courts in the country.
“The maintenance fees for the tennis court are quite high due to regular grass cutting and court resurfacing and cleaning.
“The club also allows the public (non-member) to use the tennis court at a reasonable fee,” he said.
Meanwhile, Garvy Beh said that assisting the club was part of BP Healthcare corporate social responsibility (CSR) to help those in need even during Covid-19 pandemic times.
“BP Health has also assisted the marginalized, the vulnerable and poverty-stricken citizens through various CSR namely providing free Covid-19 test to OKU/blind masseurs/volunteers (PPV) and 50% discount for senior citizen," he said.
