IPOH: Eight
participants received their Kiosk Key from the government’s eKasih Programme,
held at the Ipoh City Council (MBI), here.
They were –
Kasimah Kurdi, Maziana Ariffin , Ridzuan Din , Jasveer Singh, D.Daniel, Mohd Fitri Soffian, Hassan Basri
Shafie and Hairol Saleh Mahmod.
MBI had
allocated 40 kiosks in eight locations for recipients namely – Taman Perpaduan
(4 units), Chemor (6), Taman Rishah (4), Buntong (4), Rapat Setia (6), Ampang
(6), Pengkalan (4) and Pekan Rezaki (6).

Guest-of-honour
was State Housing, Local Government, Public Transportation & Tourism
Committee chairman Datuk Norlee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi presented the kiosk key
to the recipients.

Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the objective of the eKasih programme
aimed to provide assistance to the B40 group to earn a living via business which
could help reduce poverty in the city.

“MBI’s
function is to provide a conducive environment for the traders to carry on
their business and to monitor their progress from time to time.
“This is the
first batch of eKasih recipients for our new kiosk for this year, and this
group is an experienced one in terms of running a business,” he said.
Meanwhile,
Datuk Norlee Ashilin said that Ipoh City has a record of 481 family from poor
category followed with 99 family from hardcore poor category.

“According
to the Economy Management Unit Report 2019, the statistic for poor family in
Malaysia stands at 190,534 family and 107,114 hardcore poor family.
“The eKasih
programme is an on-going initiative of the government to extend assistance to
the B40 group while improving their standard of living and economy,” she said.
