KUALA
KANGSAR: Yat Lai Coffeeshop is one of my favourite place for food
when in Kuala Kangsar.
The
classic Hainanese coffee shop showcased antique marble tables, wooden
chairs, old photographs of flood and a price list on the wall.
It
is 'packed' with customers on lunch time.
I
usually reach there before 1pm to make my order before the
crowd.
The
coffee shop is a well known 'meeting place' for college students,
business people and families, here.
HAINANESE BEEF STEAK |
I
travel here – just for it's delicious Hainanese Beef Steak and
Chicken Chop which is priced slightly expensive than offered else
where.
It's
fried Beef Steak is topped with Hainanese sauce has a smaller portion
compared to its deep fried Chicken Chop similar to Oriental style
but without tomato paste.
Another
worth ordering dishes are the fried rice, mee or bee hoon which are
common dishes meant for the locals.
Highlight - signature pau (bun) which comes with beef, chicken, kaya
and red bean flavours.
The
pau is one of the favourites of the Royalties!!
It
is advisable to do a pre-booking of the pau, which are
produced by the bosses (a pair of twins) themselves, in limited
numbers per day.
The
coffee shop is located at 51, Jalan Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
It
is open from 1 pm – 3pm (the pau are ready after 2.30pm).

05-7766369.
