LWOT WELCOMES BABY ZEBRA

LOST WORLD OF TAMBUN WELCOMES A NEW BUNDLE OF JOY – BABY ZEBRA

IPOH: For the first time, the Lost World of Tambun (LWOT) greeted the arrival of a male baby zebra here, last month.

The baby zebra named ZuZu, weighed 30 kilogram and was delivered at 10.54 pm on, September 11.

Baby ZuZu is the child from the first pair of zebra named Zack (the father) and Zoey (the mother), imported from Africa in 2016.

The loving parents of ZuZu are residents from the Giraffe and Friends Exhibit area.

The mother was on a duration of 13 months pregnancy and the vet had closely watched over the mother's progress so as to capture if there was any changes in behavior, including after birth.

In order to safeguard the mother and baby, the management had built a wooden fence to prevent animals on the other side including a pair of ostrich and camel, and a giraffe from disturbing them, as the 'baby' is a newcomer to the community of animals, here.

Currently, the baby zebra is feeding on his mother's milk, and will go on solid food after six months.

Defined by a collection of small plant growing in a transparent, sealed container with a closed environment, a terrarium is a perfect way to illustrate how an ecosystem works. Besides, it also showcase the importance of nature and how recycling can help the Earth where this activity is in line with United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals under the Sustainable Consumption and Production area.
