SINGAPORE:
Sentosa Island is a familiar place for me. It is the only popular
resort island in Singapore – for its 'many' tourism product
offers, here.
When
I was working in Singapore in the 90s, the then Sentosa Island is
much different from today's Sentosa.
SANDY BEACHES |
Back
then, there were limited attractions, showcasing the Merlion statue,
Musical Fountain, Fort Siloso and the sandy beach.
Today's
Sentosa Island is totally transformed into an island of a 'hundred'
attractions plus an 'overwhelming' tourists attractions namely Fort
Siloso, golf course, Canopy Flyer Ride, Butterfly Park & Insect
Kingdom, Madame Tussauds Signapore, Wave House Sentosa (artificial
barreling wave), Skyline Luge & Skyride, iFly Singapore, Kidzania
SingaporeAJ Hackett Sentosa (Bungy Jump), Headrock VR (virtual
reality theme park), Resorts World Casino, Universal Studios, Mega
Adventure Park, hotels and sheltered beach.
COLORFUL MERLION |
There
is also a Malaysian Hawker centre, souvenir outlets and fast food
restaurants for the tourists convenience.
Transportation
include – bus, monorail trains and cable car.
The
only attraction I will missed is the Merlion statue (closed) and will
be removed to somewhere else, soon.
GET SUNNY @ SENTOSA ISLAND |
Sentosa
Island, was once used as a British military base and a Japanese
prisoner-of-war camp. In 1972, the island was renamed Sentosa –
plans of transforming her into a tourist destination.
