KACANG PUTIH REPLICA DESIGNING WINNERS

 

IPOH: An architectural designer Chee Shiau Thing, 34, won top prize in creating a replica of a kacang putih (white peanuts) as a decoration for the Buntong Round-about, here.

She walked away with cash prize of RM1,000, a certificate and goody bag.

Second placing was Raja Ahmad Shahrazad Raja Zainal Abidin, 33, while third placing was Chong Chi Chen, 24, who received RM750 and RM500, respectively with certificate and goody bag.

The Ipoh City Council had called for entries for the Kacang Putih Replica Design contest, which focused on the element of a kacang putih, a traditional business carried out in the Kacang Putih Village, Buntong.

The council had received ten entries for the contest which started from October 5 until November 30.

Datuk Bandar Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud gave away the prizes.

IPOH: The Xmas Foodies Trail is on!

My two-hour food trail with friends started with a lunch at Restaurant Ho Hao Chiak, followed with Great Wall Kopitiam, in Bercham.

 

ALL THINGS PORK @ HO HAO CHIAK, BERCHAM

 

Firstly, we make a stop for lunch at the newly open Ho Hao Chiak specializes in pork noodles, pork stomach noodles, pork cake noodles, seaweed fish paste noodles, pork slices noodles and clay pot noodles.

A bowl of pork noodles - is quite a large portion comprises of slices of pork, kidney and liver, and an egg.

It is worth trying if you have a passion for pork noodles as it is ‘rich’ with all-things-pork.

 

FINALLY I AM HERE - BERCHAM GREAT WALL KOPITIAM

 

Our next stop over is the Great Wall Kopitiam.

I have heard a lot about this coffee shop which sells one of the so-called best coffee in town.

I finally make it to the ‘haven of coffee’ found, here.

The types of coffee offered include Kopi O, White Coffee, Mexican Latte, Expresso and Ceylon Tea among others.

If you are in Ipoh this is a ‘must try’ coffee place for coffee lovers!!

It is not as popular as Sun Yin Loong (Old Town) as this shop is hidden in a corner of Bercham area. But it is worth a try!!

‘TWAS A MERRY BRIGHT AFFAIR @ IPOH PARADE

 

IPOH: Despite the Covid-19 pandemic gloom, Christmas celebration in Ipoh Parade remained a merry and bright side affair.

The two-day festive celebration showcased a series of fascinating Christmas activities that include an Art & Craft Workshop, a Mascot Party, Gingerbread Man Cookies Baking Workshop, Station Games and Win Contest.

On top of that, shoppers were treated to Christmas Hip Hop Dance and Latin & Salsa Fusion Dance performances, on stage.

Ipoh Parade Advertising & Promotional Assistant Manager Lim Huey Tyng said the mall arrived at the Christmas theme for this year - to spread joy and sprinkle a glimmer of hope to everyone’s lives amid the ongoing pandemic.

“Christmas celebration is a bit different as the mall is obliged to observe and exercise precautionary measures to make sure visitors adhere to the CMCO standard operating procedures for the pandemic period,” she said.
